Dilute Light

bass flute and harp
(dur.: c. 10:30)

Dilute Light takes its title and inspiration from the poem "Aquatic Nocturne" by Sylvia Plath. The poem describes many aspects of light as seen from below the surface, such as "thin streaks of bright tinfoil," "flicker[ing] gilt," and "turquoise slivers of dilute light." To me, this imagery finds a logical sonic counterpart in the timbres of the bass flute and harp.
