Practice Files/Example Recordings

Links to help familiarize you with the Willapa Harbor Chorale Spring 2025 Concert music.

A bit about the practice files: all vocal parts are present in each "part" file as "piano + voice" (syynthesizer "aah"--sometimes a little funny sounding). The focus part for each file is much louder than the other parts. The tempo and rhythms are about what we are aiming for, HOWEVER, there is no dynamic variation in these files. We'll work on that in rehearsal. If there are solos, they are included also.

Afton Water:

Performance HERE. A great performance, with flute.
PRACTICE: Soprano
PRACTICE: Alto
PRACTICE: Tenor
PRACTICE: Bass

America (Neil Diamond):

I could not find a performance of this arrangement. Hoever, there are many options on Youtube of Neil Diamond singing it.
PRACTICE: Soprano
PRACTICE: Alto

An American Trilogy:

Performance HERE. Pretty good amateur choir performance.

Performance HERE. Pretty good amateur choir performance. Maybe a little slow.
PRACTICE: Soprano

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat:

Performance 1 HERE. Good performance. The audio quality isn't the greatest. I'm not a huge fan of the southern accent on "One More Angel in Heaven." And they skipped "Song of the King".

Performance 2 HERE. Pretty good performance. The audio quality isn't the greatest here either. They do have "Song of the King" (which I think is the funnest part of the whole medley).
PRACTICE: Soprano
PRACTICE: Alto
PRACTICE: Tenor
PRACTICE: Bass

Lerner & Loewe medley:

Performance 1 HERE. Good performance.

Performance 2 HERE. Pretty good performance. Again, the audio quality isn't the greatest. They skipped "Camelot" and "They Call the Wind Maria". And we won't do the choreography...
PRACTICE: Soprano
PRACTICE: Alto
PRACTICE: Tenor
PRACTICE: Bass

Love Me Tender:

Performance HERE. Good performance, but a little too fast. Brazilian choir, so the pronunciation is a little off in a few spots, but overall quite good.
PRACTICE: Soprano
PRACTICE: Alto
PRACTICE: Tenor
PRACTICE: Bass

O Sifuni Mungu:

Performance 1 HERE. This is a good performance, which is pretty much exactly like our version is written.

Performance 2 HERE. Another great performance, but this one is a little more flexible with the arrangement.
PRACTICE: Soprano I
PRACTICE: Soprano II
PRACTICE: Alto
PRACTICE: Tenor
PRACTICE: Bass

Pie Jesu:

Performance HERE. Pretty good performance, but the recording is very quiet. And the performance is a little too slow.
PRACTICE: Soprano
PRACTICE: Alto
PRACTICE: Tenor
PRACTICE: Bass

Sweet Caroline:

Performance HERE. Good performance, a bit silly in places, but gets the feel right.
PRACTICE: Soprano I
PRACTICE: Soprano II
PRACTICE: Alto
PRACTICE: Tenor
PRACTICE: Bass

A Tribute to Queen:

Performance 1 HERE. Publisher-provided performance with full band. You can follow along in the score with the performance.

Performance 2 HERE. Another great performance, a lot more along the lines of what we want to do. And they do it memorized!
